First of all, I am doing somehow better. Still a bit stuck in my neck but it is getting better. My spirit is going up with every day that passes. thank you all for your sweet emails and comments, means the world to me, thank you!
ok over to the questions and answers!
Do you ask yourself some questions before you start journaling? Or do you start right away and write what you think?
I really just start and write what I think. I actually not even think about it I just write. I change things later when I am done with writing. Than I see if I need to change, words, sentences etc. I think that when you don’t think about it, it is easier to write, it will come from your heart instead of your mind. I choose to write in English instead of Dutch, because I can express myself better in English and it sounds better too I think.
Do you get inspired by other scrappers? Who for example?
Yes I love the work of Elsie, Céline, Prisca, Ali, Cathy, Cheryl and many, many more scrapbookers. They all have different styles, from simple to freestyle, that doesn’t matter to me, I just love to look at a good layout.
I do wonder how you make you photo's pop out with contrast (like the black and white photo of Joy for example)/ what are your camera settings?
I actually have my camera on automatic since I need more instructions first on how to use it in manual. I love to work with my zoom lens, that automatically gives a blurry background. I work on every picture that I take in Photoshop. I work with different layers, actions and I play with curves and levels. The ctrl+L key is the one I use all the time. You just have to pull the little triangles(do this with the one on the left and the right) to the points where the black lines begin. You do the same for red, green and blue(you start with RGB) This already works miracles for your pictures!
With black and white pictures I tend to pull the triangle in the middle more to the left and than play with my contrast. I also use actions you can get for free or you can buy them on the internet.
What's your favorite product?
I love patterned paper! And my new favourite are the Thickers from American Craft.
What's your favo color? do you use in every LO?
I do not have a favourite color I think. I just love color in general. I use white or black cardstock almost with any lo.
Do you have a plan when you start on a LO? Or do you go with the flow and add a bit of this and a bit of that along the way?
Both. When I scrap for me, I just go with the flow most of the time. When I scrap for a magazine I think more before I even start the lo.
Do you have a QK or other die stuff? I can't remember seeing it on your work, so I guess not, but ...
I have a Sizzix , but I think I used it three times?! I do not like to work with these things, don’t ask me why I just don’t.
Do you have lots of orders from clients? How do they find you?
No not that much since I do not promote it at all. My business site hasn’t been updated for a year now. I still do make things for clients and they know me or have seen my work before they order. Usually they order again later, so I have a few regulars. I work now more on other projects and assignments from magazines, something I like much more.
When something is 'working' on your LO, do you tend to use it again in following ones? Or do you try to do something new every time?
I had that with the clear buttons for a while. I almost used them on every lo I did, still love them by the way. I do not think I just grab whatever I feel like to use at that moment.
Which do you prefer:
- photo's: black/white or color? Color
- handwriting or font? Font
- chocolate or candy? Chocolate
- summer or winter? Summer
- Sinterklaas of Santa Claus? Santa
My question: what is a true challenge to you? I love purple and pink colors so my challenge is not to use them! I find red a difficult color to work with as it is not my color (I am an Aries so it should be!). Freestyle or Elsie style is difficult for me as well. Is there anything you think is difficult to you?
I find it difficult to use softer colors at the moment since I am all about bright color now.
How and when did you get into Scrapbooking.
I started to scrapbook in the end of May in 2004. My friend showed me a few patterned papers she got and I was sold!
I have a question, how do you get into a design team? What do you do when you are in there?
For some I was asked and for others I submitted when they had a call out for new design team members .I do advice you to only submit to manufacturers who you really like. Don’t just do it because you want to be in any design team, you have to like the product. I have to make 2 lo’s every month with the products they send me. You usually get a huge box of scrap goodies were you can work with, that is one of the good things on being in a design team. You can also get an extra assignment for CHA or memory trends for example. You can also get sponsored when you are teaching on events or at scrapbook stores.
What material or technique you wouldn’t use very soon with your scrapping?
Dye cut machines. I just do not like them.
Which technique have you done that doesn’t work for you?
I actually do not use that many technique’s. I am more a graphic person than a technique person.I use my computer more than I would use a technique. I stick with simple techniques like inking or sanding paper.
Why is it that you tend to use one picture on a lo?
I am starting to use more these days and I do use more on spreads(double lo’s). It is mostly that I am too lazy to print out more in smaller sizes. So when I scrapbook for me I usually use one bigger picture. And when I scrapbook for calls or assignments I can use more than one picture.
Why is it that you do not make many spreads?
Well I do make spreads but I do not show them. I have a file on my computer with lo’s that I make for calls or just for me that I consider good lo’s. These I send in for publications and will not put them in an online gallery. In fact many of my double lo’s are favourites to me because they tell and show more of one story.
when will you be back in action?!
I hope really soon!
my question: what kinda color do you find yourself using over and over again?
Not just one color, many bright colors at the moment! And black and white!
Is scrapbooking still fun when you have assignments to get done and deadlines to meet?
Yes!! I am very good at working on deadlines. I even tend to start at deadlines, it gets my creative energy flowing and I can scrap really fast than.
Hope my answers make any sense at al!
