The life of a Dutch scrapper

I am back :)

I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that I will be OK, it just takes some time.

On Wednesday Anthony had a playdate with one of the children from his class. This was the first time. So I talked a bit to the mom about school and what do you know she hates Anthony's teacher.....because she slapped her child.....seriously are there no normal teachers or schools for these kids? So I left and she took Anthony with them to the dentist because she had forgotten that this was on the same day. After 5 he still wasn't home, so I tried calling here, but she didn't answered. 5 minutes later I get a call from a friend of hers telling me things didn't go that well this afternoon. My heartbeat stopped for a minute, thinking it had to do with Anthony. But no...the mom was not feeling all to good at the busstop and she called her friend who came over and than the mom just fell down, kids screaming and crying thinking she was dead....ambulance came and she was still unconscious. The friends ex took Anthony home. Anthony was so upsad all evening and woke up crying his eyes out....poor kid. Luckily the mom was ok and got home in the end, but they still have to do more testing to see what it was.

The new Creatief met Foto's is out and I have two articles in there. One is a valentine card article and the other is about my sisters pregnancy. I actually really like the way they photographed it, so go check it out :)

Just when I thought

I was feeling better it hit me in the face again. I slept all yesterday morning, I felt so tired. My coughing is not gone, but it is less though. I will see the doctor again on Friday since it is not gone and my mom thinks the chance that it will come back is very high...........hope not.

Yesterday I had an conversation at Anthony his school to see how he is doing. Well ever sins he had been to the NEI therapy he comes home with a smile from school and is not depressed or whatever at home. Also got almost everyday stickers for his behavior and I was never called to tell me that there was something not going right.....so am I strange to think things would go well? Apparently I was, because it is not going well at all according to his teacher and remedial teacher. They were only talking negative about him for 15 to 20 minutes and ended that they wanted to get him placed in their hospital and preferable day and night. That is when I snapped. I told them right away that this will never ever happen so this was not an option. Than I told them that I listened for 20 minutes to them talking only negative about Anthony, I didn't hear one single positive thing coming from their mouths and I knew that there were positive changes. I told his teacher what I thought of her by not contacting me about this, because it could be a reaction to his medicine as well(he is getting a higher doses), also I asked why the hell she gave him stickers each day for his behavior when his behavior was not good in her eyes. What message is she sending to Anthony than! He will think that is ok to behave like that and never learns his boundaries because she isn't telling them to him. OMG I was so mad! And his teacher was a bit shocked at my reaction because I didn't took her crappy answers. His remedial teacher also had spoken about how he reacted on the reading group he is in and that he never ever wanted to make a certain page where they have to fill in answers, no matter what she tried. In the end I told them I needed all there stuff on his behavior on paper so i could take it with me to his phychiatrist and my contact person. I am going to make sure that there will be class observations(because I am so not trusting his teacher now anymore with her "skills"), I am going to talk about his medication again, maybe he doesn't need any or others. Also they wanted to get him some one on one therapy because they think he might have an aversion to school after going through some horrible experiences with the past 4 he had been through....you think!!!?

So afterward I am in the car with Anthony talking a bit on how he doing in school and I ask him how he thinks he is doing. He says fine. So I ask him: do you really think so? He answers: Mommy I got stickers each day right? UGH!!!! So than I ask him about his reading group and why he is always not willing to cooperate. He simple explains to me that the level he is on is way to simple, he already knows that very well. He hates it that he can only read one line and can't read the whole thing himself. He hates it when the teacher interrupts him when he is reading something wrong, he rather has her done that when he is finished. I ask him why he never wants to make the paper with all the questions on it. His answer is simple: Mommy all the answers on the questions are first told, so what is the point to write them down again if I just heard them all, that makes no sense!

Sigh...why do they not talk to him, get to know why he does the things he do, and how he is thinking to actually help him. Pure ego's speaking here. I am so sick of this all, so sick of it you have no idea.

Another thing is that they already mentioned the hospital in October as this is the only thing they come up with. I know of 3 to 4 kids from his class are already put in there since September, so this says a lot to me as well. If I would really think this would be of benefit of Anthony I would do it, but I truly believe he will not gain a thing there. Why put him again in a different situation? he has had that for too many times, why do it again and again?

***just spoke with his phychiatrist and he thought it would be wise as well to do class observations, to see how his teache ris acting with him etc.

Busy as a bee

Yes that is me. Life has officially started again today. I can't give in to my jet-lag anymore, although I am still very tired in the afternoon and awake late in the evening...which is so not me. I am still coughing which is not so good. I do not feel that the penicillin has done me any good. It is a little bit better but still so not good at all. I can't walk outside because it starts such a heavy coughing attack, but I have to because we have Issi, our wonder dog who needs to walk a few times a day.
Hope I feel better real soon.

Ok where to begin. DH dropped me off at 7 in the morning at Schiphol Airport where we found out that my flight was canceled! I couldn;t believe my eyes when I saw it. So we waited for Jo-Anne to arrive and heard at 8 that we would go to Washington a few hours later as planned and we had to hop on another plane there to Chicago....NICE...NOT! We had both booked window seats but of course we were seated in the middle row, in the middle, double UGH! I never had such bad service in my life on a plane. Seriously I was coughing so hard and called for someone at least 12 times in an hour to get some water(Jo was finally a sleep so I did'nt wanted to wake her up again) and no one came! Jo woke up after an hour where I thought I would go nuts and people around me were offering me candy for my throat. I ran to the back where the flight attendant was and after I told her that I called for her at least 12 times she said: oh , sorry. 30 minuted before landing she gave me a huge bottle of water.....grrrr.... a little too late. So we had to ran because we heard there would be landing 8 international flights at the same time and we needed to make our connecting. We were lucky and after some ridiculous questions we got through and waited for our next plane to arrive. Of course it had an hour delay....because the pilot was still walking someone else....can you believe it! Speaking of the pilot I never ever in my life had heard someone talk the way he talked, I bet for 100 dollars that he rather had been a stand-up comedian....not that he was any good, ugh!

So we arrived one hour later as planned at Chicago airport where it was sooooooooooo cold, -20 at least, OMG I couldn;t feel my face and hands anymore. Diane picked us up and we were at her house at 9.00 in the evening. Such a long day. I couldn;t eat I was so tired and we went to bed right away.

The next morning we woke up at 5 because we would be leaving at 6 with Traci and Martha to head for Nashville, Tennessee. It was a 9/10 hour trip. My coughing made me trow up at Burger King...NICE, and when we finally arrived at JJ's house I still was not feeling good at all. It was Sarah Bowens b-day so everyone went out for diner. I was too tired and had no appitite at all so I went to bed for a few hours untill they got back. It was so nice to finally meet some of the girls who already arrived at JJ's, to get to know them in real life.

She's back into town

Yes I made it safe and sound back from the USA. I had such a good time although the coufhing that I had when I left got worse and today the doctor told me I hove broncythus(I am 100% sure you do not spell it like this, but you might know what I mean right?)
I will make an update soon, promise but now I have a HUGE jetlag and all I want to do is sleep. Talk soon!

It has been freezing here in the Netherlands and for the first time in many many years we could go ice skating on our pound :)
 
 
 
yes even I went for a quick skate around the pound. My ankles started to hurt pretty quickly.
 
Anthony LOVED skating and was the whole day on the ice with his friends. He is now all black and blue because he didn't know in the beginning how to stop so he let himself fall, augh!

I am getting ready to go to the USA. So excited about that you have no idea!

Dh is home because it is freezing here in the Netherlands. He is a paver so he isn't able to do anything right now. It is nice to have him home with me. I was just working and he was vacuuming and mopping the floor downstairs :). I actually get more things done this way. On Sunday we will be going out to diner together, can't wait for that.

here is one of the last lo's that I made:

New years resolutions

Haven't really thought of these yet so I will be thinking while typing this:

1. Loose weight and keep it off. I went to see the NEI therapist to see if there was a reason why I couldn't get my weight off after I lost it, and there was. So now that is out of the way I want to eat more healthier, excersice more, drink more water, but not actually do a real diet. My way of eating has to change. I never was fat when I was a teen, but after my boyfriend died when I was 19 years old(which tomorrow will be 15 years ago) something from my early childhood was triggered and I started to eat all my emotions and frustrations away. I do not need to be thin, but I need to feel more comfortable in my own skin and I don't feel that way right now.

2. Spend more quality time with my husband. I can't even remember when we have been away, just the two of us. Talk more, walk more, kiss more ;)

3. Getting organised and finding a structure in everyday life. Getting a grip on my ADHD by keeping an agenda and an organiser, working with lists and asking for help for bigger things.

4. Spending more quality time with friends. I love my friends and that became more clear to me last year. I need my friends around me, they make me happy. I am blessed to have so many friends and I need to cherish them more.

5. I need to laugh more. I want to be more happier than I am right now. I need to learn how to relax, maybe start with meditaion again.

6. Making my Scrap-A-Licious weekend a big succes :) and planning for another event.

7. Play more with my kids, talk more with them about them.

8.Redo our house, get an extension on the house, get our first car and have a wonderful vacation with my family(these are the things I hope for that will be possible)

I guess this is it.....now my word for 2009 will be : I.
I need to change inside and outside in order to change the world around me the way I want it to change.

PS: I have started with some of these things already since the first I have totally redone Jadenn's room, did the bathroom and kitchen, did the livingroom and hallway big time today. Tonight I will have some friends over to scrap and laugh. Spend more time with DH ;)....see I will get this done, I know I will :)
