The life of a Dutch scrapper

Score!!!!

Today it is Queensday in the Netherlands, a national holliday. It started last evening at 6 pm. By that time the people could sell their stuff on the streets, which mostly is done in the centre of the city. I went to have a look because I never went the evening before Queensday and it was already crowded with people! I didn't see a lot of the stuff being sold though since I was so happy to find this huge suitcase:

And in it were 2 HUGE books that were actually old newspapers(a year edition) that were binded into two books.

One was from 1919 and the other one from 1930. I nearly peeded my pants when I saw them! I took the suitcase as well because no way I could carry it otherwise, but it was worth the hernia. So no looking around for me anymore....and I was just there! Back to the badmobile and on my way home again to show DH what I found. He just let out a deep sigh and was shaking his head. Well.... anyway it makes MY heart sing and that is all that matters :)

This morning we got up around 6.30 and went away into the city with the kids to see if we could score some more items. I was looking for vintage stuff, which I always have a hard time finding, but I guess it was my lucky day because this is what I came home with :)

I think this is the BEST score of the day since it was Sooooooooooo cheap and so much! A whole bunch a vintage cards, I am in love ...seriously!

The Trend Setter - Off the Runway Collection April 2008!

This is an image from the new collection at SISTV called Trend Setter and Although purple scares me, I know I can't wait to scrap with this. I never scrapped with the color purple until cherryArte made a line with the color purple. Let me tell you that the mini-album that I made with that line is the best mini-album I have ever made...to my opinion :)
So again I will get out of my comfortzone with this kit, but I am sure I will love it :)...just look at that alphabet, yum!

Finished a few things on my to do list although I am still not done and probably never will be hehe.
I did say no to a few things so I am proud of myself for doing that, since I always say yes too soon. I guess it is because I would love to do it all, but I have to think about not getting so much extra stress on my shoulders each month.

OOOH this Saterday is National Scrapbooking Day(NSD)! and I will be hosting a few morning hours on SISTV with lots of prizes and fun challenges and ofcourse a LOT of chatting! I will give more information about this soon, because I expect you to be there, rise and shine :)
And the best part is, SIS can't just do it one day, nope, also the fun will continue on Sunday :)

Finally

I am feeling that I have a little more energy and my throat is doing a little bit better, although it changes day by day. Wow did I do a lot today: Did some housework, Played with the kids building a police station from Lego(HUGE I tell ya, HUGE!!), even scrapped one spread and did the text for the article to go with it and started on my second spread(which I plan on finishing tonight), YEAH! I got the new 'Get happy' line from Cosmo Cricket to play with and I LOVE IT! what a fun colors and design and that black chipboard is cool too!

Also got some new Cardstock which is from Colorcore. It looks a LOT like bazzill(structure) but it is more shiny and the best thing is that if you sand it or tear it the inside has another color!!!! Really cool.

The organizing the house thing is going pretty good, we almost concurred the attic, which was a lot to go through, but it is almost EMPTY right now!!! DH was so pleased that he now wants to remodel the Attic(which is also out bedroom) and put a 'dakkappel' on it(lolol no idea, no idea how to call that), something that will give us more space. I so can't wait! We never did anything to the attic when we came to live here and it looks horrible...seriously...can you say purple and pink wood?

My friend Fauve is going to see if she can get more of those house stamps in previous post and when she does I will let you know :)


I leave you with this, a photo I made yesterday from Jadenn while we were at a birthday party. He was making silly faces because he didn't wanted to be in the picture. I just went trough them and OMG....look at his finger!!! He might look like an angel, but he sure isn't, hehe!

I wish I bought more of those stamps when I got mine since they are all sold out where I live. These stamps you can't get online, it is from a store here in the Netherlands that isn't even a crafting store :(, so sorry I can't help you get your own. Next time they have something similar I make sure I get more.

Still have a few deadlines this week and I hope to finish them soon since the kids have two weeks off and I plan to do fun things with them. I need a little break too :)

I am doing better by the way, now the only thing that really bothers me is my sore throat so I have that checked out by a doctor tomorrow. I have a feeling something is wrong with my focal cords since I been having no voice again and this is the thirth time in 2 months now.

My sister just had her first ultra sound and their was a heartbeat :)

pffffffffffffffffffffffff

no that is no fart but a deep sigh :) Lots going on the last week. Since I have been talking to someone about my possible ADHD I also have come to realize a few things about myself and my relationship towards others. I have never been so much of a talker....now I can hear you laughing(for the people that know me), but I mean talking about the emotional stuff. I built up a wall since I was younger and I was very, very good at rationalizing things, why people did the things they did and by doing that that was my way to cope with things and I quickly put all the emotions that came with it behind that wall that got higher and higher. For some reason, while talking with my counsler, something got triggered and everything became clear to me. Since than I have been crying more than I care for and also have had troath problems for the third time now. But that makes sense to me, energy wise :)

Besides talking more about deeper feelings, looking into exsisting relationships, it also brought back tears and pain.

I have been sorting and cleaning out our attic and I found this poem that I wrote not long after my boyfriend died when I was 19. Back than I couldn't express my emotions verbally at all and I wanted to share my emotions and what I was feeling and going through with others through this poem. Too me it expresses everything I felt from the moment he died and when I read it now it still touched me.

Why?

I wake up but there is no one beside me.
I touch the place you used to be.
It feels cold.
Cold.
You were so cold when I touched you.
Lips which ised to be red were now white.
I kissed those lips.
They did not kiss me back.
I wanted you to put your arms around me.
You did not move.
I wanted you to look at me the way you used to do.
You kept your eyes closed.
I wanted you to say: "Hey, It's going to be OK".
Silence.
The next day glass was between us and I wondered why?
Why? Why did you have to die?

Two kisses on your head was how I said goodbye.
My heart feels so heavy, so filled with pain I can not explain.
I wish I could turn back the time so everything would be allright,
but I can't.
Now people ask me: "Are you Ok?"

Tubes and prayers

Just got out of the hospital with Jadenn. He had tubes placed in his ears(he was as deaf as could be) today but also we found out that the thing in his nose, sorry no idea how it is called in english(neusamandelen) had grown again(in not even 8 months of time!) and had a serious infection too top it off, so they cut those too. He was so brave my little man, no crying at all, woke up normal, perfect I must say.

My Uncle was also submitted too the hospital yesterday and things are not looking good as the doctor said to him, he is very sick. Today he will get an MRI scan and hopefully we will know more soon. He has had cancer a couple of years ago and we are afraid it returned. So if you could say a prayer for him and his family it would be much appriciated. His name is Jan, thank you.
