Sjuul Feeling Good Dresses | Fashion

Last year I had the pleasure to photograph the first collection of Victor and Anne for Sjuul Feeling Good Dresses. Beautiful dresses for plus size woman like myself. Victor and Anne are brother and sister and they both are incredible designers and next to that two of the most fun and relaxed and loving people I have met in a long time, I just love them :).

So when Victor asked me if I wanted to shoot the second collection also of course I said "YES!". This time it was for the Summer collection and we talked back and fourth and in the end decided to do the shoot on the SS Rotterdam, a huge ship in Rotterdam. Normally I also am involved in the styling part of a shoot as I LOVE to do this, but Victor and I we must be twins or something because we think alike and I knew I could leave it all in his hands. On the day of the shoot it was so funny when I asked:"Do you also have..." and before I could finish my sentence he would hold an item up, over and over again, too funny, twins I tell ya!

So with no further ado here are some of the shots I took of the new collection:

As it was almost Queensday and we were about to have a King instead of our Queen we decided to take advantage of this and took some fun shots. So happy when we spot this "Willem Alexander" , together with our "Maxima" Sjuul they made a perfect couple don't you think?!

When I first saw this dress I thought way to much print and color for my taste but boy was I surprised when she put it on, it looks amazing and I think it will be in my closet soon!

Then she put on I think my favorite dress of the whole collection and I can't wait till it hits the store(July! argh!), it will be sold out of that I am sure!

Elmisch & Miriam | Lovebirds

When I met Elmisch and Miriam for the first time I knew right away that they were my kind of people. I think they felt the same way as they booked me for their wedding. But before shooting their grand day we planned to do a Lovebirds shoot. Miriam LOVES baking and her favorite store is Cupcake & Co in Alkmaar were she gets a lot of her baking supplies. Upstairs is a 50 style diner and we knew we had to do the shoot there. Elmisch loves music so we had to incorporate that as well. The best part was they brought their daughter Jada with them and OMG she is just the cutest!! I shot waaaaaaay to many photos but I just couldn't stop we had just so much fun. This shoot is now in my top 5 of favorite shoots, let me know if you agree :). When they pulled the glasses out of a bag I knew: My clients get me :)

Seminar 14 mei | Workshop

Seminar

The Next Level Retreat | Workshop

The good, the bad and the ugly zeg maar.

Wanneer: 20/21/22 september 2013

Waar: In een prachtig huis in Hoogwoud(Noord-Holland)
Locatie facebook

Hoeveel:

Marina - 5 weeks old | Baby Photography

When Izabella walked into my studio, with 5 week old Marina, I had no idea that she came from Brazil and that she found me through mutual Brazilian friend Vinicius Matos. He shot their wedding and when she emailed him she couldn't find a good newborn/baby photographer he recommended me :).

Lately I have been doing almost all my newborn sessions in my studio and I have to say I love it!!! I always know I have good natural light in there and I have all my props close at hand.

I know a lot of newborn photographers rather not photograph newborns after 14 days old but I just LOVE it, as they are more awake, which gives me more change at open eyes shots like the first image(my favorite!!). The one with the globe is especially done for daddy as he is a Geography teacher and of course we turned it so you could see Brazil :).

Next were the mom and dad shots(first one is another favorite!!):

I loved photographing Marina, she was a joy and made my job so easy.

Brazil!!! | Workshop

A few weeks ago Vinicus Matos, owner of Escola De Imagem and a well known Wedding Photographer in Brazil, asked me if I was interested in doing a one day seminar in Brazil during a three day workshop event called Photo Family. Hmmmm let me think....Duh! YES!!! I did an on-line live interview with him a few months ago at 1 or two in the morning(I miscalculated the time difference!) and it was so much fun, talking to so many(mostly) Brazilian photographers on-line! Next to myself Newborn Photographer Stephanie Robin from the USA will also be doing a workshop at this event.

If you are from Brazil or near Brazil I hope to see you there!!!!!

An introduction to “Beloved” Photography | Workshop

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure to go to an introduction to “Beloved” Photography, organised by my friend Florence Bavinck. Florence is the first Dutch certified “Beloved” Photographer and allthough I already knew a bit about this style of photography I never knew how it went in a real shoot and if it was something for me. Florence told us what “Beloved” was and how she and other “Beloved” photographers are using it in their photography, the tools and that it will work with anyone who gets in front of your camera. In the afternoon we got to see for ourselve when we got to see Florence work her magic with a real couple she never met before. Me and the other photographers also gave it a try and “Beloved” works! The best thing is that you can implement it in every style of photography. The most amazing thing to me was that the couple only had eyes for each other. A lot of smiles, hugs and kissing went on during the shoot, hardly once did they look into the camera. I now understand that a “Beloved” photoshoot is so much more then a regular photoshoot. You might not always see it when you look at the photos between a “Beloved” photographer and another photographer who also is good in capturing real emotions on camera, but the experience of a “Beloved” shoot is, I personally think, a gift you can give to your clients. So needless to say I will be using some of the “Beloved” technique as well in my future sessions, as I like to give gifts to my clients :) Here are some images that I took of Gesa and Hendrik during this session:

PS: if you are a photographer and are interested in this workshop by Florence just shoot her an email as I know she will be doing two more of these workshops in December and January! You do not want to miss this, trust me!(UPDATE: Only a few spots left in December, January is full.)

Dennis and Linda "forever and ever" | Wedding Photography

97% change of rain, even stormy weather, was predicted on all weather channels and weather websites for November first, the wedding day of Dennis and Linda. Now you have to know that I always tell all my clients that they do not have to worry about the weather, that I will make sure that we will have a blue skye, some white clouds and a sun peeking through. All my weddings I shot so far had bad weather reports days prior to the wedding, and on all weddings the blue skye, white clouds and little sun were there even if it was just long enough to do the photoshoot. But this time I was in serious doubt, I mean 97% change of rain all day long, not much change of that blue, skye and sun right?

The day started dry, but the sky turned darker the minute we came to Dennis his parents house to shoot the first photos of Dennis. When we left it started to rain a tiny bit. Off to Linda who was getting her make-up done when we arrived. When Dennis came to pick her up it was raining, but still no where near the rain that was predicted. We did the photoshoot at The JopenKerk and afterward went to “Het Kantoor”, where family and friends awaited them to have a delicious lunch.

After the ceremony when we went outside my mouth almost dropped to the floor as there was the most beautiful blue sky, white clouds and the sun peeking through them, just like I always said to my couples. The hairs on my arms stood up when I saw that. I think the rain that fell that day was maybe 15% max! I still can’t believe it.

Linda and Dennis are true high school sweethearts. 11,5 years ago they met at a disco, Linda was 16 and Dennis 18 years old. She thought he was cute and a gentleman when he gave her three kisses on the cheek when they said goodbye. The weekend after they had organised a real first date and Linda told her friends that if she would order a coke light they had to come and rescue her, needless to say she didn’t order that coke light ;).

11,5 years later, November first 2012, they said “I do” to each other in front of all their family and close friends. The day was filled with so much love and joy that Nathalie(my assistant) and I went home with a HUGE grin on our face knowing, by looking at the faces of Dennis and Linda, that they enjoyed every minute of their wedding day.

Here is their wedding day in photos:

When the sun was almost gone we quickly took a few shots more as the sky was simply amazing!
14

Their opening dance was AMAZEBALLS!! It started with boring "Let's stay together" from All Green and you could see Dennis his soccer team mates think "what the...? as they did some kind of Quickstep. But then all of the sudden "Can't touch this" from MC Hammer busted out of the speakers, followed with Beyonce's "Put a ring on it" and some amazing moves :). I just LOVED it and so did everyone else!

I think the thing that stuck with me the most is the bond of love between them and their family and their friends, true love and true happiness that filled their wedding day, very special to see.

Dennis and Linda I wish you a whole life together filled with this love and happiness, thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day.

Coby and Lennaert | Loveshoot

OMG! This was such a fun Loveshoot! When Coby emailed me her idea for a loveshoot I got excited right away, as I already knew it was going to be so much fun! It took some searching but she found a place where she could buy the Holi Powder that they use in India during a celebration. So we met up in Amsterdam, had a drink, took some "normal" shots and then it was time to get messy! The powder was a lot thicker then we expected, maybe we had to make it more loose up front? But the fun wasn't any less because of it :)

Workshop with Wedding Photographer Fer Juaristi | Workshops

On wednesday I had the pleasure to do a workshop in Amsterdam with a super talented and well known wedding photographer from Mexico, Fer Juaristi. I love following workshops as it inspires me to always get better and try new things and this workshop was no exception! We talked all day and his energetic and fun vibe made everyone smile and laugh all day long. We did a shoot outside with a lovely couple that just got married two months ago. As I usually always go for the front light and Fer is always looking for the sidelight it was a real eye-opener for me I must say. Here are a few of my favorites that I took during this shoot. The first one is the master himself :)

The next shot I would normally not take myself as it is so dark and dramatic, but I actually like it I think:

And this last one is a random shot that I like because of all the action that is going on :)

I spend a lovely day with an awesome photographer and also many fellow photographers from Holland and Belgium, I have to say there is not much that can beat that!
